  • Saltire Awards Deadline is approaching on the 31st March 2023
March 16th 2023

Shetland’s tenth annual Saltire Youth Volunteering Award Ceremony will take place on Tuesday 6th June 2023.

Young volunteers aged 12-25 who have been recording their volunteering hours tmay be entitled to receive a certificate.

Volunteers can request Saltire certificates when they have completed 10, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 500 hours of volunteering. Please note that any certificate requests using the Saltire Awards website (www.saltireawards.scot) will not be accepted. We do however have a new online system which we will be accepting.

In order for volunteers to receive a certificate we will require them/their organisation to submit the following:

  • The volunteer to be registered for Saltire by completing and signing a volunteer registration form (if they have not done so already)
  • A copy of a completed timesheet of volunteer hours signed by the placement supervisor
  • A signed certificate request form from (you) the organisation with whom they volunteer which now includes a part where information can be added about the young person’s volunteering

In addition to finding the forms on our website, they can also be picked up at Market House. You can also find an online tool (Jotform app) which volunteers and organisations can now use to submit forms if you prefer to do this over paper forms. The closing date for paperwork submissions is 31st March 2023. If you need help with any of this paperwork or need to check anything, please get in touch with Lavinia Schmidt (01595 743911, lavinia.schmidt@shetland.org) as soon as possible. If we do not have the volunteer’s paperwork by the closing date then unfortunately we will be unable to issue a certificate to them at the Saltire Awards.

If you're an organisation please remind all of your volunteers that the closing date for submissions for this year’s awards is approaching, as some of your volunteers may not currently be registered for the Saltire Awards.

We would also like to remind you that organisations can nominate their volunteers for a ‘Summit’ award, an award for outstanding achievements in volunteering. If you would like to nominate one or more of your volunteers you can also find a form here, however, we would recommend getting in touch with Lavinia directly to discuss your nomination.
